Quality for us is not just a final check.
It runs through every step of production.
At Kovis Livarna, reducing environmental impact is not an afterthought, it is built into our core foundry work process.
Around 78 % of all core sand is recovered, reclaimed and fed back into production, fully automatically. Leading to less waste, lower raw material costs and smaller environmental footprint.
Scrap and production residues are processed back into raw material and fed into the next melt. This is how zero waste comes best to life – with 90 % of secondary raw materials in our products.
Our own solar plant generates 24 % of electricity needed for operations. Optimized processes and clever innovation strive for minimal impact on the environment with 60 % CO2 savings, less ventilation losses, 11 % weight savings, noise reduction and recyclability.
ISO 50001 (Energy Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management). Maintaining high standards in sustainable practices.
Automatic sandblasting machines handle the bulk of surface prep at high throughput. This is followed by CNC grinding (MAUS, LIANCO), robotic grinding (for tight-tolerance surface) or manual finishes.
The result: Clean, consistent castings ready for customer inspection.
Finishing cores with robotic cleaning ensures consistent quality and surface preparation. It removes human variability from one of the most detail-sensitive steps in the process.
Automated visual inspection is integrated in the process. This way we can catch deviations before they reach the moulding line, preventing irregularities even before the start.
With 3D sand printing we produce core inserts directly from digital files. Enabling complex internal geometries that traditional tooling can’t achieve, with lead times that were previously impossible.
Kovis BP
JWL Kovis Limited
Behind every casting we produce stands a group built around one idea: complete integrated solutions for safer, more efficient and climate-friendly rail transport and beyond.
Kovis Group operates five production sites across four countries.
Each with a focused role, all working as one.
Kovis Group at a glance
Group Headquarters · Machining & R&D
The heart of Kovis Group. Home to the central R&D and machining operations, and the origin of Kovis’s position as a European niche champion in railway components.
Foundry · Nodular & Grey Cast Iron
The casting foundation of Kovis Group. Kovis Livarna supplies high-quality iron castings for the group’s own railway components and for external customers across railway, construction, agricultural and other industries.
Logistics · Internal & External Transport
The group’s own logistics arm. Ensuring reliable, controlled transport between production sites and to customers across Europe.
Machining · Painting · Railway
Kovis BP handles machining, painting and final production. Focused exclusively on railway components, extending the group’s manufacturing capacity with precision and efficiency.
Foundry & Machine Shop · Railway & Beyond
Kovis’s production footprint in Asia. A full foundry and machine shop producing brake discs and cast iron components for railway, construction and agricultural machinery.
